State RTI Commissioner Smt. Lam Thanthiya Kumari has reviewed the implementation of ACT in various educational institutions in East Godavari district, here on Thursday, at Collectorate in Kakinada, as a part of his official visit. In this meeting, some of the activities alleged that JNTU-K officials are giving irrelevant and irresponsible answeres when they asked for information regarding university activities. The JNTU-K faced criticism before the RTI Commissioner in this meeting. Responding to this, JNTU-K Rector Mr. Prabhakara Rao, Registrar Mr. G.V.R.Prasad Raju and Principal Mr. Padma Raju said that they would give information on some of the issues within 48 hours to one month. Speaking on this, RTI Commissioner bluntly told the authorities that 'if they do not respond properly with queries, then she would be compelled to imposte penalty'. She said educationalists should not lower the heads in such a situation but protect the image of the institution and should conduct themselves with dignity and uphold the high position. She said education department should a role model in implementation of RTI Act. All the respective educationalists and other officials participated in the meeting.
