Guthula Sita Mahalakshmi, Retired Superintendent in Zilla Parishad, was arrested, here on Thursday, on charges of misappropriating Rs. 17 Lakh of Government funds in Rural Water Supply (RWS) Department. Revealing the case details, Sarpavaram Inspector Mr. Y.R.K.Srinivas said, 'Sita Mahalakshmi has worked as Senior Assistant in RWS department and was later promoted as Superintendent in ZP. She retired recently. Meanwhile, RWS Executive Engineer Mr. Ch.Appa Rao lodged a complaint, stating that funds were misused during her service', Inspector added. Sita Mahalakshmi misued the funds for paying Chits and others, sources said.
