The Village Panchayat Elections Nominations phase ended peacefully, here on Saturday. According to the information, a total 943 candidates filed their nominations for Sarpanches and 5010 for Ward members in Kakinada division. While, in entire East Godavari district, 5655 Nominations filed for Sarpanches and 30,241 for Ward members. 21 Sarpanch positions elected unanimously for 300 Wards in the district. Sources said leading political parties including the Congress, the TDP and the YSRCP joined hands at the village level to see that sarpanchs were elected without a contest to avoid election-related costs. The Scrutiny of filled Nominations will be conducted from 14th to 15th July. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is 17th July (before 3PM) and the list of contesting candidates will be published on 17th July (after 3PM).
