The State Legislative Committee on Welfare of Women, Children, Disabled and Old-Aged, had visited East Godavari district and conducted a review meet on Rule of Reservations, which are implementing for Women, Disabled, Old-aged & Children with all respective officials here on Wednesday at Collectorate Vidhan Gowtami hall in Kakinada. The committee which reviewed the welfare of these sections noticed lack of information on the issue by several people who were deserted by their children, making a special mention on the issue at the review meet, Committee Chairperson, Mrs. B. Satyavathi, said that many senior citizens submitted representations during their visit to the district over negligence by their children. She said, the Government of India made an act three years ago on the issue and tribunals were also formed at the revenue divison level. She stressed that the youngsters today will be a citizen tomorrow and after that will reach the senior citizen stage too, so the youngsters should realise the fact and not to desert their parents, she advised. The committee directed the district Collector Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad to give extensive propagation and publicity on the rights of senior citizens, childrens, disabled & women. They had reviewed about each and every issue of women, children, disabled & old-aged welfares with all the respective officials from the district.
