The 104th Birth Anniversary of the Great Indian Freedom Fighter Durgabai Deshmukh, was grandly celebrated in Kakinada, here on Monday. All India Women's Conference (AIWC) Kakinada division has organised these celebrations at Gandhi Nagar Municipal Park in the city. Firstly, the AIWC President K.Satyavathi Devi has offered garlands to the statue of Durgabai Deshmukh in the park premises. Later, speaking on this, He stated 'everyone should take Durgabai Deshmukh as a role model, a great social activist who worked for the poor and downtrodden and took active part in the Independence struggle'. "Deshmukh possessed the characteristics of both India Gandhi and Mother Teresa and was a very talented leader," she added. AIWC Kakinada Secretary L.Seshu Kumari and members participated and called the services of Durgabai in this program. Many other organisations from the city celebrated the occasion.
