The 'Mahadharna' which has jointly arranged by CPI, CPI (M), CPI (ML), CPI (ML) New Democracy, CPI (ML) Liberation and Andhra Pradesh Rythu Coolie Sangham was observed, here on Monday at Collectorate in Kakinada. The protest has conducted against  the exploration of oil and natural gas reserves by the Reliance and transporting the same to other States at the cost of the interests of the Krishna-Godavari Basin.

 According to this, the CPI Party State Secretary Mr. K.Narayana along with all other party leaders & members participated in the protest. Speaking on this, said that because of the Reliance policies, the government is getting Rs.1 lakh crore loss per annum and the Petroleum Price Index Policy of the country is also in favour of the company. As a result of pro-Reliance policies of the government the prices of gas, petrol, diesel and other petroleum products are increasing bimonthly, he added. He described Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Chidambaram, Planning Commission Chairman Ahluwalia and Economic Advisor Rangarajan as “wicked four” (dustachathustayam) and they are the ‘culprits’ for the present economic situation. He announced that his party Central Committee which is meeting on August 7 and 8 will take a decision on ‘extortion’ of Reliance Petroleum Corporation in KG Basin and fight against it at national level.

Responding to the Supreme Court's recent judgement on Criminals, he said that there should be a debate on the Supreme Court's verdict on criminals in legislative bodies to reduce the influence of criminals in politics. He welcomed the verdict, and tat the same time opined that there should be some changes in the Indian Panel Code. 'There should be difference amoung economic, criminal offences and public movements. Some politicians are going to jail for participating in agitations for public causes. So, the supreme court should exempt offences connected with public movements from the list, he said.
