A five member team of United Nations World Food Programme visited East Godavari District here on Tuesday to study Aadhaar enabled services providing by the Public distribution system. The team firstly visited Rajahmundry & Samalkota mandals and observed the Aadhaar enrollment centers working process. Later, they reached Kakinada and met the District Joint Collector Mr. Ahmed Babu at his chamber in Collectorate. The Joint Collector told the delegation about how transparency was maintained in this scheme and said that there was no "duplication" and actual beneficiaries get the benefit. Speaking on this, the United Nations World Food Programme Director (India) Mr. Micheal Jason has stated that the food subsidy will be provided more efficiently for the poor people through Aadhaar enabled services. "The prime objective of the scheme is to identify real beneficiaries. Then only the benefits reach actual beneficiaries," he added. The team includes officers Mr. P. Paithankar, Mr. Ashish Jain, Mr. Rajit Gupta and Seema Bansal, sources said.
