International Mother Language Day was observed in the district, here on Friday. This day is observed with an aim to promote awareness of linguistic, multilingualism and cultural diversity. According to this, the district authorities have celebrated the day grandly here. The District Collector Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad has participated in these celebrations. Firstly, she had offered floral tributes to the statue of Telugu Thalli at PRG College jn in Kakinada. Later, speaking on this, she stressed the need for protection of mother tongue as it is like mother. She said there was every need to preserve the mother tongue-Telugu while implementing it effectively. The Collector called upon the students and Telugu language lovers to strive for strict and effective implementation of the same. She requested all the students, poets, writers and mother tongue lovers to participate in a special meeting, which is to be held on 22nd of February, at the Collectorate on the implementation of Telugu as the official language.
