Under ‘Jawaharlal Bala Arogya Raksha' scheme, complete medical tests would be conducted to 4.08 Lakh students pursing education in 3,795 primary and zilla parishad high schools in East Godavari District. Social Welfare Minister, Mr. Pilli Subhash Chandrabose, here on Sunday, said that the scheme was aimed at protecting the health of school-going children in the State. He inaugurated the scheme at Social Welfare Residential School for girls at Chollangipeta village of Tallarevu mandal. Mr. Bose said that besides conducting the screening tests, the Government had also arranged for treatment to the needy under the scheme. A health card each would be issued to the students and medical tests would be conducted twice a year, he added. Observing from the previous survey records, most of the students in rural areas were suffering from problems like malnutrition. This scheme helps in screening the health problems of the students and taking necessary steps for the prevention of diseases. Zilla Parishad Chairman Mr. Ch.
