East Godavari District Irrigation Board Advisory meet was held here on Wednesday at Collectorate in Kakinada. The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of District Collector, Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad. Union Minister Mr. M.M.Pallam Raju, State Ministers Mr. Thota Narasimham, Mr. Pinipe Viswaroop and serveral MLA's and respective departmental officials have participated for the meeting. Farmers association leaders & representatives have attended to the meet and demanded for complete stoppage of private blasts for stone quarrying in Yeleru project area as the same is posing a threat to the reservoir project. Responding to this, MLA's expressed their concern over the safety of the reservoir due to these blasting by private contractors. Later, Minister Mr. Pinipe Viswaroop asked Pithapuram MLA Mrs. Vanga Geeta, Peddapuram MLA Mr. Pantham Gandhi Mohan and Prathipadu MLA Mr. Parvati Sri Satyanarayana Murthy to inspect the project area on Thursday to get the ground realities on the issue. He also asked the officials of Mining, Irrigation and Revenue departments to accompany the team of MLA's to get the details. But the representatives of farmers associations are not satisfied with this, as the Ministers have not given any perfect conclusion about the delay in closure of canal works which are taken up as a part of Godavari Delta modernisation programme.
