Praja Rajyam Party President, Mr. K. Chiranjeevi, on Sunday, faulted the Government for failing to take steps to mitigate the loss occurred due to heavy rains in District. Mr. Chiranjeevi demanded that ex gratia being paid by the State Government to the farmers who lost their crop due to rain must reach all the tenant farmers. Launching his district tour here, Mr. Chiranjeevi recalled that the PRP was the first political party that brought the issue of tenant farmers to the light. He said that the encroachment of drains by industrialists was the main reason for continuous flood of farm field and residential areas. The Government remained as speechless viewer, instead of taking steps to free the drains from encroachments. After visiting Indrapalem and Samalkot and interacting with farmers, Mr. Chiranjeevi demanded the Government to arrange and acquire paddy from farmers by offering them minimum support price. The Government must distribute seed for the Rabi crop free of cost and provide 100 % input financial support to the farmers who lost their crop he added. Mr. Chiranjeevi took a boat to visit the low-lying areas near Sarpavaram and interacted with the residents.
