The East Godavari District authorities issued a high alert in view of the cyclone. Officials said, the deep depression over east central Bay of Bengal has transformed into the cyclonic storm Phailin, which will transmute into a very severe cyclone. According to this, the District Collector Mrs. Neetu Kumari Prasad has conducted a meet with the officials from Revenue, Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, Roads & Buildings, Agriculture, Rural Water supply, Fisheries, EPDCL departments in the district. Speaking on this, she said all the officials were put on high alert to come for rescue operations at any emergency for all the areas in the district. She noticed the fisherman to not to go for fishing during this cyclone alert. No.1 danger alert was launched in Kakinada port, she added. She asked the people living in low areas to be alert as heavy rains were expected in the next 48hrs in the district.
