Communist Party of India (Marxist) activists from the district reached the Collectorate around 10am and staged a protest, as a part of its statewide protest infront of all collectorates demanding Government to control hike prices in general goods, here on Tuesday. As the activists laid to siege the collectorate, the police personnel entered into the field and resorted to lathicharge on them. Around 70 members of CPI (M) activists were arrested in this protest and later they have released. Some of the activists were injured in the lathicharge. Ex MP Mr. Midium Babu Rao, CPM District Secretary Mr. Dhadala Subbarao, Mr. T. S. Prakash, Mr. Duvva Seshu Babji, Mr. Palivela Veerababu, Baby Rani and other CPI leaders from the district, were participated in this protest.
