A phone call by stranger had created panic in the premises of Collectorate here on Tuesday. Personnel of Collector office and other offices moved out of their offices in panic. After one hour, same kind of warning call was received at DSO office. According to police, District Incharge Revenue Officer (DRO) Mr. P.Rama Krishna Murthy received a phone call at 11:32am on his mobile. During the call, no other officials were present with him. Phone was received from a landline number 0884-2380563. Stranger warned that a bomb has been planted in Collectorate and will blast at 12pm. Mr. Krishna Murthy became alert and advised staff to move out of the office. Information was also passed to Police Officers and District Collector, Mr. Ravi Chandra was in the meeting held at Vidhaan Gowtami Conference Hall behind Collector Office. Bomb squads along with Bomb Sniffing Dogs examined the premises. Land Reforms, BC Corporation, Additional Joint Collector Chamber, Video Conference Hall, Record Room, Mini Conference Hall, Election Material Stock, National Informatics Center, Collector and Joint Collector Chambers located upstairs, DRO Chamber, Computer Room and other A, B, C, D and H section offices were examined. While this investigation was going on, another phone call was received at DSO Office at 12:30pm to DSO Mr. Gandham Sriram on his mobile. Due to this, staff of DSO also moved out of office in panic. Here, District Manager Office, Survey of Lands & Records and other departments were examined. Police identified that these phone calls were received from a coin box (CCB) located at R&B SE Office located near to Collectorate. Owner of the coin box Satyanarayana was taken into custody. Police declared it as a false rumour call. Revenue Employees Association President, Mr. Pithani Trinadh Rao reminded that 10 years back they received call that bomb was placed in H Section. During that investigation, it was also declared as a rumor call. Speaking on this, DSP Balla Lakshmi Narayana stated that they will have special focus on this type of rumor calls and will catch the culprit very soon, he added.
