India celebrated its 67th Independence Day grandly with great fervour on Thursday ie., 15th August, 2013.

On this occasion, the State Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Pinipe Viswaroop hoisted our National flag and inspected the parade at Police Parade grounds in Kakinada. He has received the guard of honour along with the District Collector and SP.

Speaking on this, he said 'we acheived many things and developed in many ways and we shall follow in the same path towards success in these six and half centuries. We are striving for Agriculture development and also for farmers welfare without compromising in anything. I salute to all those who have sacrificed their lifes in freedom fight and irrespective of race, religion and community we shall unitedly strive for our Country progress and our ancestors', he added. He asserted that Petro Chemicals Petroleum Investment Region (PCPIR) between Vizag and Kakinada will give a great impetus to development in the region. He explained about the government projects, which are implemented in the district.

Various cultural programs have been conducted by the students in this occasion.

All the sections from the city including Educational Institutions, Organisations, Political Parties and others observed the flag festival at their premises in the city.

Later, the Minister presented Best Services awards to the selected officials from various departments in the district.

On other side, the Samaikyandhra activists continued their strike in various places in the city. NGOs boycott the flag festival in support to Samaikyandhra bandh.
