The motive has been absolutely accepted by the young generation that they honored it this year thy self. No leaderships, No reminders, No persuasions - They wanted Kakinada to stand as a Champion, They wanted to support their mother Earth, They wanted to enlighten everyone on the need for saving power, They wanted to take Earth Hour's motive beyond that 60mins, They wanted to sustain Earth healthier for our future generations - 'They' are the 'Adolescent Students' and the young Power disbanded!
60+ Earth Hour 2012
WWF (World Wildlife Fund) started this World's Biggest Grassroots Biological Movement in the History, The 60+ Earth Hour, on the motive to reduce our carbon footprint.

Earth Hour campaign pledges switching off non-essential lights for one hour on March 26th between 8:30pm to 9:30pm. This radically decreases electricity usage percentage over one hour and thus the carbon emissions.
Last Saturday of March is opted as the day of the Event since around this time the Spring and Autumn equinoxes in the northern and southern hemispheres respectively, which allows for near coincidental sunset times in both hemispheres, thereby ensuring the greatest visual impact for a global 'lights out' event.
It all started in the year 2007 at Sydney, the Australia's largest City passing a dramatic message of Global Warming and 2.2 million people keenly switched off lights.
In 2011, WWF India officially celebrated its campaign in Kakinada, a port city in India, with an amazing crowd of 2k+ numbers. It was a renaissance for every Kakinada citizen.
Our Champion city - Kakinada
March 26th , 2011 7pm to 11pm:
Those were the magical hours of a series of sessions in sequence for Earth Hour: an Energy Audit Seminar, the Candle walk leaded by the state dignitaries, Cultural event fronted by Mr. Ghazal Srinivas at Vivekananda Park. Kakinada hoped Earth Hour will be remembered and supported beyond that one hour for our lively planet and it surely was!
Earth Hour falls on the Last Saturday of March as we all know: March 31st, 2012:

For the year 2012, Nyros Technologies wanted to remind and re-stir their people to support the motive behind the movement and made space to promote the campaign and voluntarily distribute the Candles. All the Colleges and the young groups foot-stepped on the front note to put their best of efforts in enlightening the cause of the campaign among the people.
On the big day, Students of all Colleges organized Candle Walks in various main areas of Kakinada and distributed Candles to residential homes imparting knowledge on saving power.
Kakinada Municipal Corporation voluntarily switched off the Street Lights between the selected hours: 8:30-9:30pm showcasing their support for Earth Hour. Godavari Chamber of Commerce also extended their support by switching off power in the retail stores.
Many homes are observed switching off power showing their valuable support for the campaign as well as a sign of understanding the importance of saving power and reducing our Carbon Footprint.
It was a revolution & a proof of what people can do, when they can do for thyself and mother Earth.
Kakinada is a Champion today and forever.
