Workers Sports Competitions Started

The 2-days Labour Workers Sports & Cultural competitions were started here on Wednesday at Indoor Stadium in Kakinada. These competitions were organized by the District Labour Workers Welfare union. Around 250 worker members from Krishna, East & West godavari districts participated in these competitions. Joint Labour Commissioner Mr. Yousuf Sheik, District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) S. V. Ramana presided over the program as chief guests and started the competitions here. Speaking on this, another chief guest District Additional Joint Collector Mr. B. Ramarao has stated that all the workers should have unity and they should maintain physical fitness in their daily life. He called upon the workers to enjoy these competitions without feeling any tensions and pressure. He stated that these competitions are being conducted every year and those players who show their talent in these competitions will be eligible to participate in the State level competitions, which will be held at Hyderabad. Awards will be presented for all the winners on May day by the State Chief Minister, he added. Athletics, Shotput, Volley ball, Kabaddi, Badminton, Tennikoit competitions were conducted in sports. Similarly, various drama, fancy dress competitions were conducted in cultural events. Deputy Labour Commissioner Mr. Srinivasa Rao, Labour Welfare Committee Member Mr. Galla Ramu, INTUC Members Mr. Ch. Lakshmi Narayana, Mr. P. Satyanarayana, Labour workers welfare union member Mr. P. Venkataratnam Naidu and many others participated in the program.
