East Godavari District administration is taking steps to prevent drinking water scarcity in summer. According to this, the Rural Water Supply (RWS) scheme officials released a plan for the supply of drinking water to the identified areas which are facing water shortage in the district. The plan needs Rs.3.56 crores, in that, Government has already released Rs.2 crores for that purpose as sources said, but the RWS department is facing problems from AP transco in the matter of giving power connections. According to sources, The AP Transco has to give power connections to nearly 25 schemes but the transco officials stated that they cannot give power connections, unless bills are paid. Speaking on this, the RWS Superintendent Engineer, Mr. Nanda Rao said, that they were holding coordination meetings between AP transco and RWS officials and many problems have been solved. District Collector Smt. Neetu Kumar Prasad is paying attention to the drinking water problems in the district, according to sources.
