Mr. M Rathan, State Information Commissioner visited the district yesterday to investigate on some cases. He met Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad and oraganised a press meet along with her. In this press meet, he informed that to get information under Right to Information Act one should directly ask for the information in the application itself instead of joining question sheet separately along with the application. We are facing problems in sending reply letters to the applicants as most of applications are received without pincodes and clear addresses, he added. He said cases belonging to 13,000 applications are in pending and at present we have taken steps and started investigation process to solve the pending cases of the year 2010. From Nellore to Srikakulam 2700 cases are in pending out of these 1700 cases belong to Revenue Department. Shokaz Notice has been issued to sixty officers who showed negligence in their work, he added. He also said that they are taking steps to solve 2000 cases in three months. He ordered to display the list of all the benificiaries in all Welfare Schemes. Finally he asid that full fledged arrangements are being made to follow RTI Act properly.
