Recently, in the Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting, the State Minister Mr. Thota Narasimham alleged in the presence of Union Minister for Human Resources Development Mr. Pallam Raju, that minor irrigation officials siphoned away funds to the tune of Rs 12 crores in his Assembly constituency without doing any work. He said inspections done at the ground level revealed that not even 10 per cent of the work was done, he lamented. According to this, the state government has started taking action against minor irrigation officials in the three sub-divisions of the Dowleswaram division of the minor irrigation department in East Godavari district. Based on the enquiry report submitted to the Collector and Irrigation Authorities, the Assistant Engineer of Central Delta Minor Irrigation Dept, Mr. Murthy Raju has been suspended. Dowleswaram SE Mr. Kasi Visweswara Rao has issued the suspend orders to Murthy Raju, here on Tuesday. The report has also recommended suspension of another AE Mr. Bhanumurthy and Divisional Engineer Mr. Abraham, who is on leave. Meanwhile, the officials of Anti-corruption Bureau arrested Assistant Engineer Mr. Padmanabha Raju of the Irrigation Department, here on Tuesday after the inspection, sending shockwaves among the corrupt engineers of the department in the district.
