Hyderabad, Nov 14th: Moon Impact Probe (MIP) which was decorated in Indian colors landed on moon on Friday at exactly 8.31 pm. Nov 14 will become the Red Letter day in Indian history as the Chandrayan-1 was landed on lunar surface which was the first natural satellite if India.
MIP after separating from Chandrayan-1 traveled for 25 minutes to cover nearly 100 km to land on moon. Prior to India many foreign countries like America, Soviet Russia and European Union has launched their probes.
ISRO team chairman G.Madhavan Nayar speaking on the occasion said that they have fulfilled the promise in landing the MIP on moon with the greater support of their team. President Prathiba Patel and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh congratulated the Indian scientists and the ISRO team for this great success.
MIP after separating from Chandrayan-1 landed near Shakildon and had send the pictures regarding the earth in various directions which were tracked by the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Center located at Bangalore. The firing of probe was the suggestion given by Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam and the colors signifies the presence of India on moon.
