Best actor award for the year 2005, was given to Mahesh Babu for the film “Athadu” and film actress Trisha got best actress award for the film “Nuvvu Vasthanante Nenu Vadhantana”. For the year 2006 Akkineni Nagarguna bagged the best actor award for the film “Sri Ramdas” while Nanditha Daas was the best actress for the film “Kaamli”.
NTR National Award:
Chief minister Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy has given away the NTR National award-2003 for Superstar Krisha, Music Director IIayaraja for the 2004, Ambarish for the year 2005 and for the actress Vahida Rehman for the year 2006. The award winners were given Golden Nandi, 5 lakh cash prize and appreciation certificates.
Raghupathi Venkaiah Award
Raghupathi Venkaiah awards were also given on this occasion. Producers M.S.Reddy, Rama Naidu has won this award for the year 2005, 2006 respectively.
Best film awards were granted to the films Pothe Poni, Bommarillu for the year 2005 and 2006 respectively. Directors, Producers, film actor and actress have taken away these awards.
Addressing the huge crowd at Lal Bahadur Stadium Chief Minister said that from the past it is only the congress government who is striving hard for the development of the film industry. He commented that TDP government has stopped giving NTR national awards from the year 2003. He also added that the films should not only serve the purpose of entertainment but also be message oriented.
