Marking the 122nd birth anniversary of Indian Jurist Dr. B.R.Ambedkar, people here celebrated it in a grand manner on Saturday. Functions and programmes were organised at various places, including offices of political parties, government offices, and schools in the district. Union Minister of State for Defense Mr. M.M.Pallam Raju, Stater Ministers Mr. Viswaroop & Mr. Thota Narasimham paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar at Indrapalem center in Kakinada. Speaking on this, Mr. M.M.Pallam Raju said, now a days, dalits, tribals, minorities, backward classes, SC/STs and others were able to fight for their rights only due to the Constitution drafted by Dr. Ambedkar. The other speakers urged the generation next to adopt the principles of Dr. B R Ambedkar, who spent his entire life working for the welfare of the downtrodden. They said, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is a role model to every individual in the society. District Collector Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad, District Schedule castes employees association leaders, MLC Mr. Chaitanya Raju, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Ravi Kumar and others participated in the program. Apart from garlanding the statue, the Congress, TDP and the BJP organised programmes at their party offices to remember the services of Dr. Ambedkar. Many other voluntary & other organizations have celebrated the birth anniversary of Babasaheb in the district.
