Through ‘Women Scientist' program, Department of Science and Technology (DST) has sanctioned Rs.2 Cr to 14 women scientists to undertake research on the subject of their choice. The beneficiaries would take up the research in association with the Directorate of Women Empowerment of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK). The grant was in response to a scientist sensitization program conducted by the JNTUK in February this year and the DST selected the beneficiaries after conducting a series of examination. Vice-Chancellor of the JNTUK, Prof. Allam Appa Rao, at a press conference here on Sunday, said that it would become a very good encouragement to women to take up research in the field of their choice. Director of the Directorate of Women Empowerment, JNTUK, I. Santi Prabha said that the program would be useful to the women to improve their research abilities and to contribute for the betterment of the society. Well Known Writer, Ms. Rashmi Bansal, who visited the JNTUK, lauded the efforts of the University towards women empowerment. Directors of the JNTUK Mr. K.
