Collector Mrs. Neetu Kumari Prasad responded to the articles published by "News Today" about the horrible situations on the damaged highways and organised an important meeting to discuss on this matter. She conferenced with Roads and Buildings department officials yesterday and ordered them to start district highways repairing works. Repair works should be started immediately with the funds that are allocated every year for the purpose of highway repairs, she added. She enquired them about the details of the funds that are released every year. She submitted that care has not been taken even when several pits and holes are formed on Kakinada to Rajahmundry highway and other highways which are leading to many dangerous incidents. On this R&B department Superintendent Mr. Sridhar said that for the financial year 2012-13 Rs. 4.50 Crores were allocated for the roads and buildings developments works. Will start repairing works as soon as the rains go off, he added. He also said that they have allocated Rs. 1200 for repairing one kilometer road. We allocated these funds to Kakinada, Rajahmundry and Amalapuram divisions and we have sent an intend letter to Government requesting to allocate Rs. 60 Crores for the repair of 40 main roads in the district that are completely damaged. Collector ordered to start repair works immediately where ever it is neccessary.
