AP State Chief Minister Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy has visited the flood-affected areas in East Godavari district here on Thursday. Firstly, he has visited the flood-affected areas in Razole, Gollaprolu and Kakinada rural areas by bus and spoke to the victims. He has listened to the farmers about the crop & paddy loss and surveyed the loss in this visit. He assured the immediate flood relief to Godavari farmers. Later, he has conducted a review meet with the district officials on flood relief measures at the Collectorate in Kakinada in the afternoon. Speaking on this, he has instructed the Irrigation department officials to prepare a plan for proper utilization of water and to protect the crops from inundation in the district. He stated that the irrigation was a major issue in the district in order to have a permanent measures to protect the crops. He said a separate meeting would be called for at Hyderabad after 10 days involving the senior officials, Ministers and people's representatives of the district. He asked them to study in depth and to prepare the plan, prioritising the immediate needs to discuss in the coming meeting. He has mainly discussed about the crop loss in the district due to the heavy rains. He said that the input subsidy would be given at the rate of Rs. 10,000 per hectare and directed the officials for proper enumeration of crop losses. He suggested the District Collector, Joint Collector and other senior officials to be in touch with the flood affected areas and also asked to display the list of farmers at the respective gram panchayats. He said, Rs.143 crores were alloted to the district for input subsidy for the crops affected, out of which Rs.87 crores were already distributed to the farmers. The remaining would be completed in the coming 10days, he added. He has also discussed about the rice, clothes and other relief funds to the victims in the district. The Chief Minister complimented the East Godavari district administration for their sincere and dedicated efforts during the times of Phailin cyclone and during the recent heavy rains, in alerting the public and for the precautionary measures to safeguard the public and the property. Central Minister for Human Resources Development Mr. M.M Pallam Raju, State Minister Mr. Thota Narasimham, MLAs and MLCs of the district were present.
