Check on code violators

Kakinada, Mar 15th: District authorities are taking all possible measures to keep check on poll code violators and troublemakers. As a part of this the authorities has announced cash prizes to the people who inform them about the poll code violators. Speaking to the media persons at the collectorate here on Sunday, East Godavari district collector and returning officer, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi has revealed that the people who inform the authorities about poll code violations will be given cash incentives ranging from 5,000 to 50,000 Rs depending on the severity of complaint.

 

Collector said that the people can inform about the code violation by calling 1100 and immediate action on the same will be taken. He promised to keep the identity of the informer in secret. He said that distribution of money, liquor and any other favour come under poll violations.

 

After the announcement of poll schedule, the authorities have received 84 complaints relating to code violation and action on 67 was already taken by imposing 10 lakh Rs as fine and seizing 34 vehicles. Parties were issued notices for the payment of the fine and severe action will be taken on those who fail to pay the amount. The seized vehicles will be released only after completion of the poll process, DEO said.
