A gang of seven was taken into custody here on Thursday on running fake currency notes in Petrol Bunks and Wine shops. DSP B.Sai Sri said this to news line here at press meet arranged at III Town Police Station. Konala Vijay Kumar from Komaraju Lanka, Ravulapalem Mandal purchased wine bottle from SUS Wine Shop near Kalpana Center, Kakinada with a fake currency note Rs. 100/- here on Wednesday. Identifying the fake currency note, the shop owner informed police. Town CI G.Dev Kumar, III Town SI V.Durga Rao reached the shop and arrested Vijay Kumar. On searching him, total nine fake notes of Rs.100/- were found with him. After investigating Vijay Kumar in police station, the whole gang was revealed. The gang includes, Kusuma Nani Babu and Yerramsetty Venkatesh Alias Raju from Komala Palliki, Mummidivaram Mandal presently staying at Sanjiva Nagar Rajiv Gruha Kalpa Apartment near Devi Multiplex Theater, Yerramsetty Venkateswarao from S.Achyutapuram, Indupuri Kiran Kumar from Mantripragada Vari Street, Sadanala Arjun from Tilak Street, Tummalapalli Apparao from Penuguduru, Karapa Mandal. Police arrested all the gang members and possessed Rs.27, 600 fake currency notes and 7 cell phones.
Earlier, members of this gang used to work at Petrol Bunk near ADB Road. During that time, Prabhakar Rao and his Son Satish gave this gang few fake currency notes and asked them to give this as form of change to customers. This fake currency notes were passed in many other Petrol Bunks and wine shops, according to police. Police are suspecting that Prabhakar Rao might be the main root behind this crime. Police noticed that Xerox copies of these notes were taken. DSP said that investigation is still in process from every corner of suspicion. The convicts were taken to custody, she added.
