YSR takes oath as AP chief minister

Hyderabad, May 20th: Y.S Raja Shekar Reddy of Congress took oath as Andhra Pradesh chief minister for the second time on Wednesday. Dr. Reddy who was the only chief minister who served a full five year term in the state was sworn-in for the second time at 6.32 pm at Lal Bahadur Stadium in the presence of screaming fans, party cadre and family members.

 

Y.S arrived at the stadium at 6.25 pm along with his wife Vijaya Lakshmi, their son Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy, grandson Y.S Raja Reddy and friend and adviser, Dr. K.V.P Ramachandra Rao in a jeep, waving out to the crowds. Audience gave warm welcome to the chief minister and his family. YSR as the chief minister took oath for the first time on May 14, 2004 at the same venue.

 

Governor N.D Tiwari administered the oath of office. Reading the text in Telugu, Dr Reddy took oath in the name of god. The swearing-in ceremony was completed in less than 5 minutes. After the swearing in ceremony is completed the Hindu, Christian and Muslim priest blessed Y.S.R and prayed for his success and well being. Only Dr. Reddy took oath on Wednesday, the cabinet will be constituted later.

 

Immediately after taking oath as chief minister, Y.S Raja Shekar Reddy signed on two files related to the increase of subsidy rice quota from 20 kg to 30 kg per month and increasing duration of free power supply to farmers from 7 to 9 hours. Addressing the huge gathering, Mr. Reddy said that these were the two promises made by them and its pleasure for him to fulfill them in this occasion.
