YSR Memorial Park at crash site

Hyderabad, Sep 24th: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Thursday approved the forest department's proposal to establish 'YSR Memorial Park' at the helicopter crash site at Pavuralagutta in 1412 hectares of forest land in memory of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. Addressing a press conference here after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Rosaiah, State Information and Public Relations Minister J Geetha Reddy said services of an international consultancy agency would be requisitioned to construct the Rs 3.15-crore memorial.

She said the forest department would obtain the approval from the Union Government for the land. A memorial stupa would come up at Nallakaluva village at a cost of Rs five lakhs and trekking path to the accident site at Pavuaralagutta would be established at a cost of Rs 30 lakhs and land would be developed at the cost of Rs 50 lakhs. Ms Reddy said as per the desire of the former Chief Minister, a peacock and animals, including wild animals, breeding centers and Nature interpretation study centre would be established at the cost of Rs 1.80 crore in the memorial park.
