Kakinada, Mar 23rd: On the occasion of World Water Day, a workshop was organized at Deltaic Regional Center (DRC) of the National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) here on Monday. The principal of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law, Mr. Trinadh attended as the chief guest for the program. Speaking on the occasion he stressed the need of utilizing the excess water by imparting latest technology. He said that the government should go up with perfect planning to utilize the available water resources and make them available for the needy.
DRC senior scientist, Dr. S.V Vijaya Kumar also addressed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion he mooted setting up an Indian River Basin Organization to tackle Water related issues. He also said that without proper and prior planning greater scarcity of water would likely to occur by 2025. He laid stress on maximum utilization of river basins. Dr. Y.R.Satyaji Rao, NIH head briefed the activities of DRC. There was a huge need to create awareness about the utilization of water resources at the national level, one of the participants in the workshop said.
