On the occasion of World Health Day at the DMHO office here on Wednesday, Joint Collector K Sasidhar has said that the government is doing its best to improve the quality of health care services and bring the cost within the reach of the common man. After flagging off a rally organized, Mr. Sasidhar said medical sciences had reached many a milestone and the benefits of these advancements ought to be delivered to the targeted sections. The medical practitioners should treat the patients with a humane touch and keep themselves abreast of the developments in their respective fields to render the best services. Almost 50 per cent of Indian population resided in cities and towns. This has certain serious implications for public health, which should be tackled with a holistic approach. Later, Mr. Sasidhar gave away prizes to school students U. Durga Rao, N. Kavya and K. Parimala who stood first, second and third in an essay-writing competition conducted in connection with the World Health Day, and to D. Tirumala Raju, S. Prithvi Raj and Ch. Kalyan who secured the top three ranks in an elocution contest.
