World Environment Day was celebrated in various parts of the town on Saturday. Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), various service organizations and industrial units celebrated the day by taking up awareness programs on environmental protection. Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch. Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna flagged off a rally. In association with Umar Alisha Rural Development Trust, DRO S.Venkatarao flagged off a rally on “Environment Protection” and he said for providing clean and pure atmosphere to future generation, everyone should plant saplings. Participating as chief guest in the World Environment Day celebrations at PRG College, Environmental Scientist Mr.Pathanjali Sastry said everyone should feel responsible in saving earth from global warming. In the joint aegis of Janavignana Vedika and Satti Rajasekhar Memorial Environment Foundation, competitions on environment were held at Municipal Corporation School and Deputy Educational Officer D.Nageswarao participated as chief guest. SSRK Municipal High School of Tilak Street also celebrated Environment Day and Division Corporator of 28th ward Kampara Venkata Prasad flagged off a rally. World environment day was also celebrated on the compound of NFCL Factory. Members of State Environmental Protection Association, A.E Mr. V.Ravi Shankar planted saplings on this occasion. NFCL chief engineer Vinod Kumar and NFCL DGM Chandra Mohan, V.Appala Raju participated in this program.
