The District Administration has identified 100 acres of land for Kakinada IIIT near Thondangi mandal in the district, as per the orders of the state government. Sources said, the Minister for Human Resources Development Mr. M.M.Pallam Raju, who represents Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency has taken active part in forwarding the proposal to set up IIIT in Kakinada. So that the State Government has constituted a four member team to finalise the Industrial Partners to participate in the establishment of IIIT. The team will visit the district soon and submit its report in a month's time. If the Industry partners are finalised, then the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) will come soon to Kakinada. It seems one corporate organization is already showing interest to become a private partner for coming IIIT, but the applications will be invited by the team and then only the partner will be selected. It would be the third National IIIT in the state after IIIT-Hyderabad and IIIT- Chittoor. It will surely become a big asset to Kakinada city.
