Kakinada, May 1st: Workers of various organizations grandly celebrated May Day here on Friday. Permanent, contract and out sourcing members of labour unions hoisted the flag at several places in the town and grandly organized the celebrations by raising slogans and singing revolutionary songs. A.I.T.U.C chief correspondent, K. Krishna Rao, CPI senior leader P. Ramachandra Rao, C.I.T.U town president Ch. Ajay Kumar, C.P.I district chief correspondent D. Subbarao and others spoke on the occasion.
Under the supervision of I.N.T.U.C president, Ch. Lakshmi Narayana clothes were distributed to labour women, old people, and to widows. Deep water workers union leader, Vanamadi Veerababu hosted the flag at local H.M.S office. Speaking on the occasion he said that May Day was celebrated to champion the rights of the workers and this is only after several of their brethren has sacrificed their lives fighting for the rights.
