Kakinada, Mar 8th: International women’s day was grandly celebrated by various organizations here in Kakinada on Sunday. The day was organized at local Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University by the center of Equal Opportunities for Women (CEOW).Retired Superintendent of Government general hospital, Dr. M. Surya Kumari did Jyothiprajwalana and initiated the program. Speaking on the occasion she asked the women to be equal to men and compete with them in all aspects. Coordinator for CEOW and head of the E.C.E department, Prof I. Santhi Praba highlighted the activities of the organization. Vice chancellor Mr. Allam Apparao, Mrs E. Lakshmi Prasad and others participated.
Kakinada unit of Telugu Desam Party also organized a program at the local Telugu Desam Party Office on Sunday. Former MLA, Pilli Anantha Lakshmi presided over the meeting. Speaking on the occasion she alleged that the attacks on women particularly on students and youth are increasing day by day. She stressed the need to control such activities. TDP women leaders P. Vijaya Lakshmi, A. Nagamani, K. Sarojini and many more participated. PRP leaders also organized the program at lions club, Ramaraopeta. PRP leaders A. Lakshmi Srinivas, Y. Padmalatha, M.
