The major fire mishap occured during afternoon hours of Saturday near to the fishing harbour, known as Harbourpet in Kakinada rural mandal. About 200 thatched houses were demolished in this accident. A 70-year-old Woman, B.Appayamma was burnt alive and three persons sustained injuries. it took place due to short cicruit in one of the huts. However it was spread to the neighbour houses. As fire was spread heavily, residents could save themselves but not their basic items from their houses. Listening to the incidents, fire officers along with their staff reached the incident spot immediately. District Collector Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad, Rural MLA Mr. Kurasala Kannababu, RDO Mr. Kishore Kumar also reached the incident place. Speaking on this, Collector Neethu Kumari said, Rs.10,000/- will be given to every family who lost their houses on this mishap.
