Kakinada, April 8th: For the second phase of elections to be organized in the district on April 23, the withdrawal of nomination for the same was concluded on Wednesday. For all the Assembly and parliament segments nearly 356 candidates filed their nominations and out of which 73 withdrew their nominations and 55 were rejected by the returning officers due to various reasons. Finally for 18 Assembly segments in total 228 are in fray and for the three parliament seats of Kakinada, Rajahmundry and Amalapuram 40 candidates are in fray.
After the completion of the withdrawal process, for Kakinada Loksabha seat 16 candidates remained in fray, for Rajahmundry 13 are in fray and for Amalapuram 11 candidates are in fray. At a highest 20 candidates are contesting for Anaparthy Assembly seat. Total 29 candidates filed their nomination for Anaparthy seat and the number was reduced to 20 due to withdrawals and rejections. Former MLC, Mr. N. Shesha Reedy is going to contest for Anaparthy seat on behalf of Congress.
