welfare schemes for minorities: CM

Hyderabad, Dec 18 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K.Rosaiah on Friday said that the state government had launched several welfare schemes for the minority Christians for their betterment in the state. Addressing a gathering in connection with Christmas celebrations organized by the 31st United Christmas Celebrations Committee-2009 here, he said the government was providing financial assistances for the construction of church's in rural areas in the state.

The government was also providing financial assistance for organizing mass marriages for the Christians and also for the pilgrims who desire to go to Jerusalem on par with the Haj pilgrims. He said the government had established the Christian Finance Development Corporation last year to take up the developmental activities for the Christians in the state. The State government had also passed a resolution in the state Assembly in August 2009 to treat the Dalit Christians on par with the Scheduled Castes to provide assistances and sent it to the Union Government for consideration.
