Voter registration through mobile units

Hyderabad, June 15th: The election commission is planning to set up mobile units for registration of new voters. The Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. I.V Subba Rao revealed this to media on Monday while he was addressing an all party meeting to discuss strategies to make voter registration a continuous and hassle free exercise. Mr. Rao said that CEOs conference will be held in Shilong on June 22 and the opinions and suggestion will be put before Election Commission for consideration.

 

CEO said that till now the applicants who want to register their name in the voter list has to visit different places for registration and the introduction of this new registration process through mobile would be of great use and will be actively considered. He also said that they were planning to introduce registration through post offices in rural areas. The suggestion to take up registration in apartments and colonies in weekends will also be considered, he added.
