State Elections commission which started voter ID's registration on last month 28th was concluded this Saturday. People and political parties did not show much interest in registration of voter id this time, due to this registration process went on in a sluggish manner. For registration of Voter ID's, applications were available in 19 divisions, in the purview of total 3,899 polling stations, 2,178 centers were arranged which includes RDO, Tahalsidar, Tapala, Panchayati Offices. But this time, youth did not show interest in registering for voter ID's. There are 25,000 candidates who completed 18 years of age on this year January 1st but only half of them registered for ID. Approximately 30,000 applications were received this time among which 25,000 are new applications and other 5,000 applications are received for modifications and transfer related applications. Photo Voter registration has also got very poor response this time. Among 33,87,256 voters who registered last year, there are 1,40,000 voters without photo. Even this time, only 31,000 voters registered among photo voter list. Candidates whose voter ID cards have their name but not photograph can submit photographs till 12th of next month. Officers are striving hard to attain 100% photo voter registration by extending the date.
