The award, instituted by the National Indian Science Congress every year to a distinguished scientist of the country will be awarded to Vice Chancellor of JNTU-K, Prof. Allam Apparao at Chennai here on Monday. From 1989 to commemorate the birth centenary of the great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, this award is being presented. The 98th National Indian Science Congress is to be held from Monday to 7th of January at SRM University, Chennai. Prime Minister, Mr. Manmohan Singh will present the most prestigious Srinivasa Ramanujan Birth Centenary Award and Gold Medal to Prof. Appa Rao at the inaugural session of the Congress. Prof. Rao has been chosen for his key role in development of science and technology, especially in the area of Computational Biology, Software Engineering and Network Security. Considering his views and suggestions on research industry, Central Government selected women as researchers. Mr. Apparao has applied for six Patents and achieved two. He published 150 research papers until now. Vice Chancellor as a member of International Editorial Board received Best Professor award in the year 2006.
