UGC panel visits JNTUK

Kakinada, Dec 18th: The University Grants Commission (UGC)-12B fact finding committee arrived at the local Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK) campus here on Friday for spot assessment of facilities available, revealed university vice-chancellor Prof Allam Appa Rao. Prof Appa Rao told that the university was already recognized and had obtained the UGC-2F status in January 2009 for awarding degrees. He said that the UGC-12B high level panel comprising outstanding educationalists and researchers of international repute would assess the facilities available at both the campuses of the JNTUK at Vizianagaram and Kakinada between December 18 and 20.

He said that its recommendations would help enhance the status of the university in all fronts and encourage ideas and internationalization of education besides funds of over Rs 100 crore for infrastructural facilities. The committee comprises Prof Vaishali Bambole of Bombay University, Prof Ganapathi Panda of IIT, Bhubaneswar, Prof Ajay Rajan of MD University, Haryana, Prof Razvi of New Delhi, vice-chancellor of Central University Prof R.K Kale and UGC deputy secretary S.C Chanda as member secretary.
