Kakinada, April 23rd: Two polling officers who were on duty at Polamuru polling station in Anaparthy Assembly segment were suspended from duty by District Election Officer and district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi on Thursday. The officers were suspended on the charges of forcing an aged voter to vote against his choice.
The accused were identified as polling officer M. Venugopala Rao working as school assistant at Alamuru government high school and the other is assistant polling officer K. Suvarna Raju working as a government school teacher in Razole.
The election authorities have decided to conduct re polling at a polling station in Pasuvulanka village of Mummidivaram Assembly segment in East Godavari district. This is due to the fault functioning of the Electronic Voting Machines there. However the authorities received complaints from various polling stations about the non functioning of the EVMs.
