Two Maoists of the rank of Deputy Commander surrendered before Superintendent of Police Mr. G. Srinivas here on Thursday. Jartha Nageswara Rao alias Naresh, 25, had been associated with the banned outfit since year 2004. He is a Deputy Commander of ‘A' section of the first Central Regional Company on the Andhra-Orissa border, while Gammella Neelanna alias Sagar, 22, had been associated with the party since year 2000. He is in the Armed Militia Dalam of the party. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Srinivas said that both the Maoists were fed up with the party agenda, therefore wanted to join the normal to lead a peaceful life. A reward of Rs. 2 lakhs will be paid to Naresh, while the sum being paid to Sagar will be about Rs. 25,000. Initially, we are handing them over Rs. 5,000 each, SP added. Mr. Srinivas said that Naresh was involved in 23 offences, including 10 cases of attack on police stations, the police, and an equal number of cases of exchange of fire, two murders and one kidnap, while Sagar was involved in two cases of attack and one exchange of fire. SP explained about the past of both Naresh and Sagar who joined the party at the age of 10. They worked in different capacities and the reason behind their surrender includes domination of Guthikoyas in the party, and the methods of killing adopted by the party in recent times he added. Both Naresh and Sagar told the reporters that they wanted to live a peaceful life without having any tension. They said that they were attracted to the party at a very young age and worked hard for the party.
