Tur dal sale begins at rythu bazaar

Kakinada, Aug 9th: The sale of tur dal at reduced prices was started at 11 rythu bazaars and at 6 other special counters in East Godavari. The sale was started at two rythu bazaars in Kakinada, five at Rajahmundry from Friday and one each at Ravulapalem, Ramachandrapuram, Amalapuram and Kothapeta from Saturday. In addition to this, tur dal is being sold at special counters in Rajahmundry and Kakinada.

According to the East Godavari joint collector, Mr. Kona Sasidhar, PDS card holders will get one kg of tur dal form these counters per month at the rate of Rs 62 per kg. This is in addition to half a kg tur dal at the rate of Rs 45 per kg given at ration shops every month, the JC said. He also said that the prices were fixed by the wholesalers and dal mill owners on a no-profit and no-loss basis after administration negotiated with them. Mr. Sasidhar assured extension of the sale to other parts of the district in due course.
