Tur dal at special counters

Kakinada, Aug 5th: With the drastic raise in tur dal prices, the East Godavari administration has initiated steps to sell the same at reduced prices. The Joint Collector for East Godavari and collector for civil supplies, Mr. Kona Sasidhar, conducted a meeting with representatives of dal mills and wholesale traders and convinced them to sell the commodity at a reduced price to meet the needs of common man. JC also stressed the need for cooperation of pulse dealers in the district like rice millers to start special counters to sell the pulses at reduced prices.

Responding to the JCs request, the dealers agreed to sell tur dal at Rs 62-a-kilo at rytu bazaars on a no-profit, no-loss basis at special counters and expressed their willingness to extend the same to other areas in due course. Mr. Sasidhar said on Wednesday that the special counters at rytu bazaars will start functioning from Friday, August 7. The PDS cardholders will be supplied a kg of tur dal per month at these counters.
