Top priority to job scheme

Rajahmundry, June 14th: The state government is paying attention for rural development and taking measures to achieve the same in next five years. As a part of it, the provision of employment under NREGS (National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) is being given top priority. This is to prevent the youth migrating to urban areas in search of employment.

 

Speaking about the proceedings to media persons on Sunday, minister for rural development and IKP, Mr. Vatti Vasanta Kumar said that next to job scheme, minor irrigation was given top priority and all the needed arrangements were made for release of funds. He revealed that 1 crore acre land was brought under cultivation so far in the state and two more acre of land is to be brought into cultivation and will be taken in phased manner.

 

The minister also said that as part of provision of employment under NREGS, special attention was being taken regarding uplift of STs in tribal areas through the Girijan Development Corporation and the forest department.
