Hyderabad, July 19th: The top minority engineering colleges were found missing in the admission list of the Ecet counseling which was scheduled between July 17 and July 20. As a result the counseling has been indefinitely postponed as hundred of students alleged foul play by the college managements to deny them seats. Students who went to the counseling center at Masab Tank were shocked to see that some reputed minority engineering colleges did not figure in the admission list.

Immediately the students took out a protest rally to the office of the AP State Council of Higher Education to lodge a complaint. The authorities clarified that colleges whose names were missing has opted for SW-I. But the students alleged that such a step was taken to deny them seats in those colleges. However, the consortium of minority colleges claimed that it was the fault of the officials who did not include the said colleges for SW-I counseling.

While the government conducts SW-I counseling, the minority colleges conduct SW-II counseling. General Secretary of consortium of minority colleges, Mr. Zaffer Zaveed, said that “we have included only minority colleges which opted for SW-II. The missing colleges had opted for SW-I”. Meanwhile, APSCHE officials said they did not include some minority colleges as there was no clarity on their SW status.

The second phase of counseling for the missing colleges will be conducted this week. All the Ecet qualified candidates will be called for counseling. The consortium of minority colleges said it will issue a fresh schedule for counseling for SW-II soon.
