Kakinada, Feb 3rd: The death toll in the hooch tragedy at Gangalakurru Agraharam in Konaseema region rose to 17, with one more person succumbing at the Government General hospital here on Wednesday. Police sources said the deceased was identified as Chatla Satyanarayana (45), a resident of Palagunni village, who was being treated at the hospital since January 26.
The condition of another victim Mattaparti Pallamsetti (40), admitted to the
Apollo hospital here, was said to be critical. Another six victims admitted to the
Government General Hospital almost became blind, with no hope of regaining the sight, despite specialists from Visakhapatnam Regional Eye Hospital examining them and rendering medical aid.
